Topological Relationships between Map Geometries

چکیده
The importance of topological relationships between spatial objects is recognized in many disciplines. In the field of spatial databases, topological relationships have played an important role, providing mechanisms for spatial constraint specification and spatial indexing techniques. The use of spatial data in a map form has become popular, resulting in spatial data models such as topologies or, more generally, map geometries, which model collections of spatial objects that satisfy certain topological constraints. However, the topological relationships between map geometries remain unexplored. In this paper, we identify the set of valid topological relationships between map geometries, and then provide a mechanism by which they can be directly implemented on top of existing systems by using topological relationships between regions.

An Efficient and Topologically Correct Map Generalization Heuristic
We present TopoVW, an efficient heuristic for map simplification that deals with a variation of the generalization problem where the idea is to simplify the polylines of a map without changing the topological relationships between these polylines or between the lines and control points. This process is important for maintaining clarity of cartographic data, avoiding situations such as high dens...
متن کاملGeometric Algebra Model for Geometry-oriented Topological Relation Computation
Classical topological relation expressions and computations are primarily based on abstract algebra. In this article, the representation and computation of geometry-oriented topological relations (GOTR) are developed. GOTR is the integration of geometry and topology. The geometries are represented by blades, which contain both algebraic expressions and construction structures of the geometries ...
متن کاملRelationships between Randic index and other topological indices
Let $G$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$, and let $d_u$ denote the degree of vertex $u$ in $G$. The Randi'c index of $G$ is defined as${R}(G) =sum_{uvin E(G)} 1/sqrt{d_ud_v}.$In this paper, we investigate the relationships between Randi'cindex and several topological indices.

The goal of this research is to develop a 3D topological structure with validation functionality and a conversion function. Based on this research question, some sub questions have been defined and a research methodology. The outline of this research is elaborated in chapter 1. The first use of topology has been attributed to Euler in 1736, since then, topology has evolved in mathematics but al...
متن کاملTowards a general theory of topological maps
We present a general theory of topological maps whereby sensory input, topological and local metrical information are combined to define the topological maps explaining such information. Topological maps correspond to the minimal models of an axiomatic theory describing the relationships between the different sources of information explained by a map. We use a circumscriptive theory to specify ...
